This is little Fireball, she's a Mourning Dove that's a little over 2 weeks old. She came into my care after someone witnessed a Blue Jay pull her out of her nest and violently attempt to kill her. She was almost a week old then. She weighs a little over 2 ounces and eats like a pig. To feed her, I took a baby animal bottle, cut the tip of the nipple off, put saran wrap over it and made a hole large enough to kind of form around her beak as she drinks. She shoves her beak into the bottle and drinks it down, simulating how a baby Mourning Dove would drink from her mother. I have used crop feeding in the past, and find this method much more comfortable for all involved, although a tad bit messier for sure.
